FRIDAY DROPS

For over four years (That’s over 225 Fridays), I’ve built a Friday Drop program for Goorin. The whole concept is to release one limited edition, highly desired trucker cap that sells out in minutes (or less) and drives energy and excitement into the customer base. Week after week designs have to remain dynamic, different from each other (no repeats) and still mostly wearable. Usually. The experiment over the past few years has given me endless valuable insights into how to work with factories, fabrics, techniques, and what customers want. Not only am I responsible for the hats, I also managed the social channel where they were released and revealed weekly. Truly one of the most excited, exhausting, frustrating, and rewarding aspects of my design career. And still going strong every Friday at noon.

Over time, the Friday Drop program took on a life of its own. Extending beyond the simple premise of creating something limited each week and moving into a laboratory for us to flex design ethos as well as test both our capabilities and our factories. All the while really seeing what our customer base was willing to jump into.
